About IDE Indonesia
Who We Are
IDE Indonesia is a community initiative led by Monash University PhD students. Our name represents our core values:
- Inspire: Sparking curiosity and motivation by showcasing impactful research and innovative ideas from and about Indonesia. We aim to ignite intellectual engagement and a passion for contributing to Indonesia's progress.
- Develop: Cultivating skills and knowledge through collaborative discussions, workshops, and opportunities for academic and professional growth. We seek to nurture the capabilities of researchers and professionals connected to Indonesia.
- Engage: Fostering a vibrant network and facilitating meaningful connections between researchers, academics, practitioners, and the wider community interested in Indonesia's development. We strive to create a platform for active participation and shared understanding.
Our motto "Ancora Imparo" (still, I am learning), which is also the tagline of our university, reflects our commitment to continuous learning and knowledge exchange.
Our Mission
We aim to create a platform where ideas related to Indonesia's development can be shared, discussed, and refined through academic discourse, simultaneously offering PhD students valuable opportunities to practice and enhance their dissemination, presentation, writing, and other key academic skills. By bringing together researchers and practitioners, we intend to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, leading to more insightful and impactful discussions.
Our Program Structure
Each 90-minute session comprises:
Research Presentation
A research presentation by a PhD candidate, showcasing ongoing work and findings related to Indonesia.
Pitch Round
A five-minute pitch round where participants trial new research ideas and receive immediate feedback from peers.
Lightning Talk
A lightning talk on a contemporary Indonesian economic or regulatory issue, providing insights into current developments.
Our Team
IDE Indonesia is run by a dedicated team of Monash University PhD students who are passionate about creating a space for academic discourse and knowledge sharing focused on Indonesia.
